We do accept new beginner students with less experience age 11 and up into our Pre-teen and Teen Classes until Oct. 31.
Because we are committed to maintaining the integrity and quality of our program, evaluations are designed to provide honest and thoughtful feedback regarding each student’s readiness, skill level, and overall fit for our studio environment. Our goal is to ensure that placement is beneficial for both the student and the studio community.
Students are placed according to a combination of skill level and age to help create the most successful learning experience for everyone involved. Please note that availability in our upper-level and older age groups (ages 11 and up) is extremely limited, and placement opportunities may be restricted regardless of evaluation outcome. As of June 2026, all of our Upper Level Classes 4 – 7 are at capacity and completely closed.
We value finding the right fit for every family and student, and we appreciate your understanding as we carefully consider each placement recommendation.

Private Lessons
Private lessons at JSOD are a special opportunity to support each dancer’s individual growth. With focused, one-on-one attention, dancers can work toward their personal goals, ask questions freely, and build confidence in a supportive, low-pressure setting outside of the classroom.
We view private lessons as a positive and proactive way to help dancers refine their skills and feel their very best—not as a correction, but as an opportunity to grow and thrive. Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of this popular and highly beneficial experience, helping dancers feel strong, confident, and prepared heading into the fall season.
Please fill out this Private Lesson Request Form and the office will contact you and put you directly in contact with a private lesson instructor after recital! Most of our private lessons take place in July and August with limited availability in June after recital. Our highly specialized instructors will work with your schedule to book open studio rooms and set up goals for your dancer to thrive this summer. Instructors can assign homework skills to work on at home in between lessons. JSOD Private lessons are $35 for 30 minutes or $70 for an hour. This fee is paid from the parent directly to the instructor. Most have Venmo or Paypal for easy transactions. Private lesson fees are due to the instructor at the time of the lesson.
